Mics for amps and another question or two

I have a small (15watt) amp and am looking to record onto my tascam 4 track and am wondering what hapens when you use a vocal mic for recording from the amp.... I have a Audio Technica DR160 mic so my next question is is that ok for recording like this, or anything in general? Help, please......

Dynamic mics work very well on amplifiers. A Shure SM-57 is a time tested workhorse in this application.
Just put it on the grill of the amp, right on the center for a brighter, aggressive sound, closer to the outside of the speaker for a rounder, less edgy sound. Experiment.
