Question Audio Driver Error?

Trying out Sonar, but can’t get it to work for me. Upon opening program I get:

Audio Driver Error: The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format or are in use by another application… It then lists whatever drivers I have enabled.

Once the program has started I have no choices on my audio input selections (ie None).

It does this whether or not I check the always use the MME interface option.

My OS is w2k, soundcards are SB live and Lynxone

Thanks,
-Drew

My guess is that you have Sonar set up to use an audio driver bit depth of 24 bits, while your sound cards only support 16 bit (I know the SB Live is only a 16 bit card - don't know anything about the Lynxone).

Open up Sonar and go to Options | Audio. Change the Audio Driver Bit Depth to 16, and reprofile your sound cards (click the Wave Profiler button at the bottom of the window).

You may then have to exit and reopen Sonar. Once you do the message should disappear and you should get input selections for your cards.

Happy New Year.

Weirdest thing. After trying the program about 20 times last night and confirming soundcard function in a different program. Today after starting the program the cards mysteriously appear. It wouldn't seem too weird, but I didn't reboot. Just left the computer on... hmmm

Thanks for the tip on the 16 bit. The lynx is a 24 bit, but I had tried reducing the settings to eliminate the conflict.
