Thumbs down Just got done recording and..

Well it sounds like CRAP!!!!! Straight off the 788 into Acid! IS there any other better programs that lets you record from line in and sounds halfway decent? I guess I gotta get used to this recording. I forgot to put the bass hole mic in the bass hole it was sitting outside my room. I guess u learn

Well, the bad news is the program is not really the problem. Your signal chain is a much bigger factor (mics, mic-pre, cables and to a very large extent, AD converters).

Cool

yes, Mr Rat is correct....if going from the 788 to the computer is something youll be doing regularly, you may want a soundcard that does straight digital transfers.....

you can get a Delta Dio 2448 for like $89....im not sure how many pints of blood youd have to sell, but it would be worth it....

Cool

so what soundcard is it that you have?....maybe theres a few thing you can do to make the best of the situation....what exactly does it sound like?.....

make sure that you are recording with as strong a signal as possible yet not hitting 0 db....

my soundcard is an SiS 7018 Wave! I think the reason why it sounded like crap is because I couldn't see the audio VU coming into Acid. So i didn't know if it was clipping or the right levels. It's just my first transfer, Im sure i will get better!!! Hopefully
gidge- do you have any suggestions on what soundcard i should get to help me with this? anyone

Cool

first, before you start thinking about soundcards, get the most out of what you have first.....

starters, it is imperitive to watch those VU's while you are recording....as stated, get the signal peaking as close to 0 db as possible without hitting it....once you get it recorded post an mp3 and from there we'll know which way to guide you......
