I love mine but I still mix through my console. If you get the 2408mkII or any of the MOTU platforms, go another $400 and pick up a Lucid GenX6 word clock generator. Just my humble opinion but I have to say, it rocks.

trackrat,
I too will keep my console.its a 24 buss which makes it nice for tracking, headphone mixing etc. I do projects for bands. I always use a console but I need to get more from my mixing format. The sonar seems to be the way to go for the $$. I'm on the lookout for a good used 2408 on ebay presently. Why do I want the GenX6?

Very high quality low jitter word clock. It's an audible difference.

Trackrat, let me ask you..because I 'm very computer stupid. To go 'puter all I need is the cakewalk program and of course a compatibal computer which I have, a Motu 2408 which I think comes with a sound card? It goes into the back of the computer. I think its a pci-324? That will enable the music to get into the computer from the Motu. I 'll go optical from my 3 adats to the Motu. I got all this right??Jim

You are correct sir. You could think of the GenX 6 as kicking things up a notch. BAM!
