I am interested in learning more about recording and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to take some classes? The only ones that I have seen (and I do not know that much about them) are offered at a local community college. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to start my new hobby/career?

thanks....douglas

I don't know where you are from, but I know Berklee college of music has unbeatable courses in recording. I think there is a campus in Boston and California. IF you are anywhere near there, its worth the commute. Recording is the top major at Berklee which is (in my opinion) the top school in the country. You could learn a bit there.

Thanks for the info and suggestion. Unfortunately, I live in the Seattle area - not close enough to commute to Calif or Boston, at least not without using my teleporting powers which I promised the government to never use. I'll try to take a look at the local community college courses and see what they look like. Can you or anyone suggest some books too?
Thanks again!
...douglas

There's a few good book recommendations on this page:

If you buy books through our links, it supports the site and you still get the lowest prices through Amazon...
