entertainment attorneys for shopping your songs?

I haven't seen any thoughts on this topic for awhile....
I'm a non-performing songwriter. I'm finding that almost all major publishers request that you submit material through an attorney. I've found that TAXI is a means to get past the no unsolicited submissions situation. Songlink is another option, although I don't have any first hand knowledge. All the lawyers I've talked to rarely deal with songwriters-it's mostly bands. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Do you have an attorney who shops your stuff? Or have you found another way to establish contacts with publishing and record companies?
