im stuck wiht CEP 1.0 and i cant update.......

hey guys..... i was wondering if i want to start my own home recording studio.... if CEP 1.0 will cut it.... my friend gave me his copy..... it was really nice of hime.... i installed it on my puter....but i lost the cd jacket.... so....... the serial is gone.... so i cant update it........ and i really want to get the updates...... what shoud i do.....

OH JEEZ, and if you look under HELP > ABOUT youll see the serial number in the lower right hand corner. nless its a cracked version, in which case you wont.

After looking at your post again...

You will need to go and buy the newer version of Cool Edit. They are not going to let you upgrade a copy that was 'given' to you. Good news is that you will get to upgrade to 2.0 free now if you buy the latest version that is out now.
