VF16 owners please respond

Please tell me your experience with the machine. performance, quality, tuffness etc. I still haven't decided which box to buy.

I just got one, but it's still in the box...I haven't had time to even unpack it...bummer is I have a new guitar as well, and I am swamped with work right now....dammit.....

Hey, i just got one about a week ago..So far ,I'm pretty happy with it.... It Sounds really,really good...It's fairly easy to operate ,but the manual assumes that you already know terminologies from past experiences, and is Not Very Explanatory (in fact,it pretty much sucks)...Once you start getting the "hang " of it,though, it's really pretty easy......but there is a learning curve....especially if your upgrading from a tape based unit with an analog mixer.......It seems to be built really solidly,and that makes me feel confident about it's reliability.....The pots and faders are smooth ,and it feels like a quality machine throughout......The effects are usable, but not incredible....But they'll do for me...The mixer, being primarily digital is a downer for me ,because I like knobs right in my face for EQ, panning, effects sends,etc....but I'm getting used to it pretty fast.......The thing I don't like is that you use the Jog/shuttle wheel to modify almost all parameters ,whether it be for EQing, panning channels, or choosing effects..even switching the phantom power off and on reuires use of the Jog/ shuttle wheel..I wish they could have given me an on/off button for that ,at least..... ........Overall, I'm happy with it.......And where else can you get 16 clean,digital tracks, with a mixer ,and effects for $795 ?? I think, for the money, it just can't be beat....It's got a SCSI port for sending your mix straight to a CD Burner, and it's also got a stereo pair of analog rca outs for an analog mix, so archiving is versatile...It also has another digital out and it can send wav files as well......For the Money, I don't think you can go wrong!!!

I´ve had the vf-16 for a couple of months and there is a somewhat big learning curve, espcially if you, like me, is pretty new at this thing.
The preamp on this is not very good, I´m having a hard time getting a hot level without going through a mixer before sending the input to the vf-16. The EQ i pretty good, however it is a bit annoying that the low isn´t as adjustable as the mid and highs. It is also annoying that there isn´t any aux return.
But beside this I find it easy to go use, it has a good sound quality and the effects are allright. I haven´t regret my buy...

Now if I could just save enough money for that Mackie mixer.
