George Harrison R.I.P.

A sad day when another of the beatles departs us. His stylistic guitar playing will be missed but not forgotten. George Harrison R.I.P.

The youngest Beatle was 58.

"something in the way she moves attracts me like no other lover..."

"here comes the sun,its alright..."

"while my guitar gently weeps..."

God bless George Harrison

Not a big Beatles or Harrison fan, but that's a bummer.

I'm only sleeping was a big inspiration for me

The guitar work he did on "I'm Only Sleeping" was what inspired me to start looking at reversing guitar tracks and finding ways to capture what he did live.

He's had an incredible influence on me lately as a guitar player...I'll miss him.

Ya know, when I think about it, George was one who inspired me to play guitar as well.
My first guitar was an ES-335 style Harmony electric 12-string, and I always used to pretend it was that big ol' black Gretsch he used to play. Even wore it way up high with one of those thin straps.

I'll miss the Dark Horse

Exclamation I'm a HUGE George Harrison fan.

George's songs and playing have been a trememndous influence on me.

As many of you may know, I cover lots of Beatles songs, with George Harrison songs being some of my favorites. As a cover artist, covering Beatles songs, I've always considered myself as more of a "John or George"- figure. [Ok, throw your stones now].

Throughout my life, I've identified with George Harrison, quite a bit, his music has brought great joy to my life, and I've always found him a GREAT inspiration. His songs are very meaningful and deep. He was the deep Beatle, more the strong/silent/thoughtful type, with a unique and classic style, and a wry sense of humor.

Being in a band that's so legendary and great as the Beatles, it's hard to put George in perspective. He was always in the shadow of Lennon/McCartney, but he is a great artist in his own right. His influence on music is underrated, and overlooked a lot, but he was a great presence in the music scene.

Having George Harrison die, to me, is like hearing Dylan died, or something, and it is very, very sad, but it's nowhere on the scale of tragedy or shock that John's murder was, which really threw everyone for a loop.

I'm mourning George's death, with the rest of you, and with everyone else I know. He was a great presence in the music world, and he leaves a great musical legacy, which we'll go on enjoying, as it goes echoing into eternity.

George Harrison will be missed, but his influence will always be with us, he touched practically everyone who's tuned into music, and the world has suffered the loss of another great person, musician and artist.

Close the book on George's life, it's over, but the world is a better place for having George Harrison around. We'll all remember him fondly, and it's up to us to keep his legacy alive.

/DA

George played AC30's, Vox Mando-Guitars, Gretch Country Gentlemen, but most of all that Ricky 12, all played with great taste and tone....

One of my favorite George tunes(I believe Lennon,McCartney wrote it,but George sang it)is "I want to tell you"!Structuraly quite advanced! There's something really special about that period,'65 to '66!As a band,I think they really found their groove in that time, between the more bubblegummy stuff of the early years, and the more "Mature"stuff they did as they started to grow apart. It's all wonderful stuff, from '62 to '70,but something about the material from "Beatles '65"through"Revolver"just seems so inspired!Just a thought!I gotta go listen!

It's a great song! And actually, George gets credit for writing it. Another interesting thing is, that song is generally considered the first pop/rock song ever to use harmonic dissonance, to express confusion (not knowing what to say, in this case). I forget, and I don't have my guitar on hand, but I believe it's pretty simple - just an F over an A minor chord. The F doesn't fit properly, being the 6th of the scale (or not in the scale at all, if it's the ... a minor melodic? Harmonic? Gr, don't remember).

You could analyze their music forever and still come up with new stuff.
