Can't hear anything!
Ok I found a tutorial which is laid out very well......
http://www.espace-cubase.org/anglais/appcub.htm I was following it quite easily. I got to the bit where I set my metronome click to record a track and there's no sound, I know my soundcasrds works because I played an mp3 file and it came out fine, I have managed to record and playback stuff in Cool Edit pro but I can't in cubase. I fiddle with some menus about output and set anything I could to my soundcard but with no luck, can anyone please help a beginner. |

I think it's under file/preferences. Somewhere in there, there is a reference to metronome and a 'audio click' or 'audible click' check box and volume setting for it.
It's been awhile since I used Cubase but I think that's one possibility. Is it a just the metronome you can't hear, or anything you record? |

I sussed it and now I can record stuff but I cant add eq or effects whilst monitoring the input! I have turned all sends on and chosen effects and fiddled with nobs but the input sound is still the same!

Haven't used cubase since 3,72 - though I've downloaded the 5.1 upgrade, I'm using Nuendo, but ... when I was using cubase it wasn't able to monitor through the effects, loaded up some of the new effects in Nuendo - no monitoring
Guess it's a cubase problembizz |

Do you mean have VST/DX effects on the live signal, while monitoring, while it records?
I don't think this is possible in Cubase or Nuendo. If it is, I can imagine some wild CPU resources would be required, as well as latency issues. I just record the tracks first and add effects later. Maybe I don't understand the problem. |

it is possible in Nuendo with all the DX and Nuendo plugs, it doesn't take more cpu than adding the effects after recording

do'h.. actually the reason you ain't getting a real click is because the click sound is first based upon the device you choose for the click and then the channel (usually channel 10 which i personally never use).. other than that you have to enable click on the funny little bar where your master, sync, play, stop-and-shit-like-that-buttons are...
now.. see cubase also lets you decide a specific note for the click so if you ain't got a sound on that note it might be a good idea setting it to a note where there is some sound.. personally i never use it. I just start the beat two bars before. press play and then record quickly and you're much better set.. i have a coca cola and i'm not afraid to use it...
