Cubase 5.1 upgrade problem

I just downloaded Cubase 5.1 and I think it's really nice, few more effects better organization on the whole, so yeah I love it and all but the problem is that now there's all these lovely pops and clicks, besides the volumes just being lower than normal. My soundcard is an M-Audio Audiophile that had no problems at all before the download. Just wondering if this was a bug that had a patch that cured it.

Appreciate any ideas!

i think you need to reset al your asio settings. go to your audio setup and select you asio driver then adjust your buffers and memory until you have no pops

I had a few pops and clicks as well, until I backed off one notch on the latency settings on my Hammerfall. I'm running at 12ms latency right now, and it is liveable... I figure that once I go back in and reoptimize all the buffer sizes and so on, I'll be able to get back to where I was. I'm sure tha5t this new code will require another pass through the setup to squeeze everything possible out of it!

Yeah thanks alot guys, it seems to be working pretty much as it should thus far. What function do the buffers actually perform, I feel as though I have a grasp on latency, it's pretty obvious I guess. On Cubase's help menu it says the higher the buffer, the smoother the perfomance. I've got it set on 64 now--think I should go higher, why/not?

Thanks again!

New Horrors!!!!!!!!

Don't know if anyone will even check this any more but, all of a sudden the upgrade is screwing up all over the place. I can't even open some songs, and it seems fairly concistent that the proper audio device is ever selected when opening the program. I'm not sure if it's related but just before it started acting strangely, I recorded a friends 45 min. DJ set and it went fine until I tried to export and it all went to hell. Is this too big of a file for Cubase to handle? Anybody got any ideas of perhaps another common bug that occurs with upgrade?

Thanks alot!
