motu 828 firewire?

hey folks,

anyone have any real experience with the motu 828?

i'd like to use my laptop for audio (toshiba pIII/1ghz, 256mb ram, 30gig hd) but am trying to decide between the motu and the tascam usb dealie. i do like the 8 inputs as i could dump tracks from my 8 track reel over for mixing, etc.

any advice or input appreciated!
