help! MIDI controller problems...

Hi. I am just getting started with my Cubase system at home. Ihvae a Yamaha P15- that I have plugged into a Dell Dimension 8200. I want to use the P150 as MIDI controller, but I also want it as a sound source. Right now, it is playing some sh*tty on board computer piano sound at me, and it is delayed horribly. How do I solve this??

what are you using for a soundcard. the delay is your latency which depends on your soundcard. If you're using the onboard card then your next purchase should definitely be a new card.

How do I change the latency? I have the rather nice (apparently) Turtle Beach top of the range fella. It's doing my head regarding changing the settings on it tho'
