Total Cubase knucklehead

I've just bought a DELL 8100 Dimension PC, I have an XP10 Roland Synth and have installed a MAYA Audiotrak SoundCard.

Cubase 5 is installed fine, and everything appears to be working okay...the MIDI system is okay.

BUT!!!!!...I can't hear anything off the cubase through the soundcard...

Frustrating because...

1. Windows Media Player plays off the MAYA fine.
2. I can actually SEE the audio files have .WAV audio on them, (from a previous recoring I have loaded in)
3. I can play MP3's okay

So if there's anything I'm doing which is like, blatant I'd really appreciate the help.
