Best way to record w/drum machine?
Any tips on recording (sonar) with my alesis sr-16? Is it worth it to go through with the sequencing, or should I just program and record straight to audio? Also, should I use seperate tracks for seperate drum sounds? What about panning? Thanks

You'll get the best result if you give each drum sound it's own track.

Track 1 - Bass Drum
Track 2 - Snare Track 3 - hi hat Track 4 - Toms (L) Track 5 - Toms (R) Track 6 - Cymbals Track 7 - Cymbals ************************************************* Make the midi connections on your drum machine and cakewalk. Pull up the song (all the chained patterns) on the SR16. Mute everything except the kick track. Record...... Mute the kick, unmute the snare. Record..... etc etc etc Sonar is very sync friendly when it comes to drum machines |
