PSR-GX76

It's got the stuff that makes the doctor happy.

Only drawback is the non-cat-resistant controls.

And my CDRW burner is also a Yamaha.
I think my next one will be as well.
They make some rockin' receivers.

Yamaha is the only big brands you can find rather easily in my part of the world...

I have a Yam Pacifica 112... and the MSP5 monitors...

The next Yam product on my shopping list is the REV500... but that should be light years away...

2816 questions

hi folks, Got one-a doze aw2816's comin' UPS.......

Can I put external processors, a BBE for example, over the mix at mixdown, or on the finished stereo mix....before burning a cd on the internal drive?

Can the 2816's preamps be bypassed (probably not?) If not, do I just put an external preamp between the mic/instrument and the yammy's inputs?
Doesn't this still put your signal thru the onboard preamps? would that matter that much? well, thanks for the board and thanks for any help.

all da best, kenton

Question defrag problem/Hi I'm a newbie with a 4416

Help!
This m/c won't record more than 8 tracks-ok! I want to record the band live-
But I keep getting some wierd skipping on playback.
The yamaha help line told me to defrag my drive.
It is still doing the same thing.
It's like it doesn't want to know about playing back long tracks
Any advice gladly taken.

I've got no fewer than 5 Yammy cards in my box. My bandmate has a Yammy bass which is great for its unbelieveably low price. I have two Yammy CDRW drives. One is acting a little iffy these days, it keeps making coasters. My old bandmate had a P80 which was really nice too.

Lightbulb

G'Day All.

Hmmm... This thread seems a little old, hope someone actually still reads it! I stumbled across it by accident, but here goes.

I have three Yamaha guitars and absolutely love them - a 12 string cutaway acoustic, RGX312 electric, and another electric that's an RGZ-something. (this is what prompted my post, I'm hoping someone might help me to identify it!)

It's a rather long story, but to keep it as short as I can I bought it off a mate a couple of years ago. He had started a restoration job on it, but buggered it up a bit and lost interest. However, among his screw-ups were that he had sanded the headstock thereby removing the model designation there, had sprayed (badly) lacquer over the body without masking the neck pocket and so sprayed over the model designation there as well. When I asked him if he actually remembered the model number he said "huh"??

I've now completed the resto - and might I say, am really happy with it - but I'm dying to know exactly what it is. It's kinda like an RGZ 621, except the body routing is different (that 621 had a funny cutout in the output jack area, mine doesn't have that). The neck joint system is also like the higher-end RGZs, where it's not a single 4-hole plate, but two die-cast "bars" to reinforce the neck screws. It also has a straight headstock, whereas the 621 had a scarf jointed neck and angled headstock. It's exactly the same shape though(the headstock, that is), which is the reason I've been advised that it's definitely an RGZ. It also has the Floyd-ish locking nut with height adjusting grubscrews (to set first fret action) as do the RGZ sreies. I have some pics (links below), but bear in mind that it's been restored - which involved a complete refinish - so it ain't the original colour, and the original maple fingerboard was replaced with ebony and abalone inlay dots. Oh, and the carbon fibre "veneer" on the headstock isn't original either (or the decal, for reasons described above) - whilst I had the old fingerboard removed I inlaid a pair of carbon fibre rods into the neck, and just carried that theme though to the headstock for "jerk-off" value.

Here's the links ...

http://www.pacomsystems.com/phreddy/OnStand2.jpg
http://www.pacomsystems.com/phreddy/YamHead.jpg
http://www.pacomsystems.com/phreddy/YamNeckJ.jpg

If anyone can help and would like more pics, I can post them on that site almost straight away. (rather than clog up this site with them)

Thanks for any help anyone might be able to provide. I've been looking into this for ages through several different forums, and through Yamaha themselves - unfortunately their support for out-of-production guitars leaves me wanting just a bit.

Cheerz!

Looks a lot like my RGZ 621's. Do you have the the little switch below the two Volume/Tone knobs. And you said it had a maple fretboard?

Maybe a lower end RGZ. I used to have a flyer that showed the different RGZ models. If I can remember to look for it at home, I'll try to share it's information with you.

I have a Yamaha CJ838sii acoustic jumbo guitar, plays like a dream and I only paid $325 used (CDN ) for it. Have played Martins and Larivees taht cost 4-5 times the price and like my Yammie better. Last time I took it for a fret dressing, I was offered $1000 by a luthier who mostly works on larivees and martins, but it ain't for sale.

also have a Yammie MG16/4 mixer

Red face Anybody have the Yamaha mg12/4fx mixer??

I just purchased this today along with a pair of Mackie SRM 450's. It will be mostly used with my trio (flamenco guitar, electric bass, latin percussion). I like the Mackie mixers but compared the price and can only find the DFX 12 and it didn't have the same features that the Yamaha had. Not to mention the cool looks and LEDs. I didn't even want to take a chance with the Behringers after reading all the bad postings about them on this site. Please let me know what you guys think and if its the right choice. I have time to decide since Musiciansfriend is backordered on these until 2nd week of Jan 05.

big thanks!
Don

Hey, Don.

I got a Yamaha MG10/2 in September, and I like it. It's a solid little box, and it can't be beat for the price. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Musiciansfriend.com is backordered on mg12/4fx so I will have to wait 2 weeks to get my hands on them!

Thanks for your reply,
