monitoring VST instruments?

Hi,
I am just fooling around with the 3.0 demo and it looks all very promising, apart from one thing:
I cannot monitor VSTi instruments. Whats the trick? I simply want to hear a sound when i press a key on the midi-keyboard. It does record, but while recording there is no output. PLayback is fine.
Hardware is st dsp2000 and a celeron with i815 mobo.

Download the manual and follow the instructions for VST instruments. It is a slightly different proceedure from most software packages as you need to set up and audio and a midi track for them. The manual explains it all quite coherently.
