Question opening previous session...

i recorded a 3 track song in 16 bit and saved all the files individually as pcm and pk files (by using save all). i also created a mixdown and saved it. it saved by default as pk and pcm files. i cannot seem to open these files! i can get them open but get either fuzz or weird mathematical waveforms. anyone know either how to convert a pcm or pk file to wave. otherwise, i know of no way to recover my files! AND THE SONG TOOK AWHILE

lol.. allways remember to save as "Windows PCM" (= .Wav)...
Well.. there are only raw pcm... just say "open" and choose Raw Pcm...
Pk files are peak files and doesn't contain any sound...

Like Chris says, the PK files don't contain audio data - they just speed up the loading of audio data files. So you can't convert them into what you want, which is wav files.

But I'm confused about how you could save the pk files without saving the wav files. Go into Windows Explorer and take a look at what you've saved. What's there? When I save a song as a session, it has a session file, a wav file for each track, and a pk file for each wav. That's what you want to have.

When I save a song, I click on 'Save' - this enables me to save each track individually, and keeps everything together in one session - very convenient. Why not do it that way?

the problem is the wave files

yeah, i understand that about the wav files... but for some reason instead of wave, my default was set to save as PCM files... so that's what i have instead of wave, and those won't up with anything but static!

relax.. this is easy.

In the WAVEFORM VEIW under "FILE" there is the standard "open" choice. choose it. In the windoe that pops up youl notice a line that says "files of type.." just like in any other program. Click there, and you can choose "all types" OR! ".pcm files" put it on either of those... open all your .pcm files.... AND

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

next time you save them... SAVE THEM AS WAV FILES. This happened because you saved your files as .pcm files. pay more attention. save as .wav.

oh, and you may have to "remind" CEP what bit depth and the like your files are.... it will promt you if thats the case.

xoxo
