Question Does anyone know any music theory?

Okay, maybe I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I'm trying to program fruity loops for a slow blues. It just doesn't sound right in 4/4 time, so I thought I'd try to do it in 12/8. I just can't think of a way to put in those damned dotted 1/4 notes!

Doesn't it have a swing setting? You can save yourself from having to do it in 12/8 by simply setting a swing percentage on most rhythm units. That way you can program in 4/4 and still have a blues swing/shuffle to it. Otherwise, your dotted quarters in 4/4 will have to compromised to a half note tied to an eighth in 12/8.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it does have a shuffle adjustment. But it just didn't sound right to my ears that way. But I know almost nothing about drumming. Maybe it sounds wrong because there's nothing playing along with it.

I gave up using fruity for anything other than straight 4/4.

Just leave the click the way it is and 'play around' it. If your programming drums, that's another matter. Probably expand it to 32 bars and adjust the tempo, the beats are there, fill them.

Maybe someone has made some pre-made slow blues beats you could adapt to whatever your doing.

I've looked for some samples, but none that I've found are slow enough. Like 60 BPM. That's slooooooow!

But, thanks for the input.
