Harvey's Mic Recommendation

Thanks for the recomendation of the MXL 603s mic for recording acoustic piano. I bought one, and already had an sm57. I burst out laughing when I listened to the recording. I must of played around for 15 min. trying to figure out why hardly any sound was coming out of the right speaker-(sm57 was right input). It didn't take long to figure it out. I bought another 603s and the recording is very good. It would be interesting to use very expensive mics to the 603s, so I could compare the sound, but I am not able to do that.

Other small (1/2") condenser mics (the expensive ones) will be a little smoother and a little quieter, but the 603S is an amazing value. Most people won't hear very much difference between the 603S and the more expensive mics. It's right up there with some of the other "best bang for the buck" pieces of gear.

Question Other uses for the 603s?

What would be some other good uses for the 603s? How versatile are they?
