V3.0 demo
Ok, here's the story, a buddy of mine asked me to help him set up a little home recording rig, he has a Dell p4 1.7 Ghz machine running Win 2k and wanted to be able to record voice overs for his bar and little 5-6 track projects. We ordered a Delta 66/Logic bundle and installed it, the installation was smooth and trouble free.
The problem arose when I tried to install Logic Delta (came free) apparently it doesn't work on Win 2k Ok, I said, we need some software to try recording with this thing, so I downloaded and installed the N-Track 3.0 Demo, I thought it would be ideal, cheap, relatively simple (right?), instantly available, and you guys seem to like it a lot. Once again the install was fine, but when I started trying to use the software it kept doing weird things like popping up 10 copies at the same time of a dialog box saying that the demo is limited to 30 seconds, recording 16 tracks when I (think) I only enabled one track to record. Meters sticking. Weird things like that.As you can probably tell I haven't used N-Track before, but it sounds like the perfect solution for my buddy, I would just like to know if this is a problem with Version 3? with the Delta Asio Drivers? With N-Track and Win 2k? is it a problem with the Demo? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I had no problems with the 3.0 demo before I registered. I am not using Delta drivers or Win 2k though. I don't think there is a track or time limit on the demo. It limits you to plugins on track 1 only and I don't think you can mix the tracks down. Good Luck

Did you try using the standard MME drivers first just to make sure everything was working properly???
I have an Echo Mia card and the ASIO drivers dont work for it either (crashes N-track) but since I don't need ultra-fast latency - I'm only recording audio and not VST instruments in real-time - I just use the MME drivers and it works great for me. Try some of the other drivers in the preferences. |

On a general note you could perhaps do with a bit of optimising the PC's configuration itself for audio. Don't worry this doesn't involve any registry work or anything too technical. The Tascam website has a superb walk-through tutorial for optimising the PC for audio. www.tascam.com
It seems to me that you should do this first as "branded" PCs are not always set up ideally for audio and can have many unnecessary utilities etc running the background etc hogging resources. Also go to the www.midiman.com site and get the latest drivers for your Delat 66. This is an especially prudent measure considering that you are using Windows 2000. be sure to use their driver uninstall proceed to remove the old drivers before you install the new ones. It is a Delta 66 Omni I use you see.

Went to Google, did a search, and look what I found, the URL. http://www.tascam.com/support/faq/pc_optimize/index.cfm Did it all by myself, y'all. |

Yes, the TASCAM hints were excellent and should be more widely read.
If anyone is still having problems with N-Track 3.0, don't forget to get the LATEST build from Flavio's website. The early versions of 3.0 were a bit buggy but 1190 is rock-solid on my PC. ALWAYS try to get the latest version of any software you want to try out. |
