Angry Does Sonar have console problems too?

I've been using Pro Audio 9, and I get constantly irritated by the faders in the console view -they have a mind of their own -either they move on their own, or they reset themselves to maximum (the track volume doesn't change, but the fader does). I've read some old posts, and everybody says to do everything in the track view ....BUT I DON'T WANT TO...(pout, pout) I like the console view, I just want it to work correctly. Does this problem still exist in SONAR? I'm considering an upgrade, but I won't if I'm still going to have this problem.

Fader behaviour is unchanged in Sonar, but now you have envelopes which give you better control over the situation. The faders on the mixer do not behave in the metaphor of a real mixer, I have found that you need to rewind and make changes relative to the start of a song for the mixer to behave consistently.

I dont wanna sound rude here, but RTFM... if the faders are moving, you may have moved them with the automation record armed, and now they'll move every time you play it back. Thats my first suggestion to check in to. If thats not it, we'll investigate further.

Console View in Sonar is essentially unchanged from CW PA9.

However, everything that everyone has told you is correct:
1. If the faders are moving, you automated them.
2. Forget the faders, use volume envelopes in Audio View (CW PA9) or Track View (Sonar).

HERE IS THE SOLUTION

The envelopes ARE in PA 9, too. And yes, I agree you should use them. However - even with the automation turned off, sometimes the faders go back to a particular position when you replay the song from the beginning. VERY frustrating, right? This is because you have a volume level set in the track view, too (which apparently takes priority over the fader level.)

TO FIX...Look at your track view and set the volume levels to the lowest possible setting. Your faders WILL STOP jumping.

Full credit for this solution should go to another poster (I can't remember his name) - I looked the same question up in the archives a couple of weeks ago and have been thanking him ever since!

Good luck!
