Angry Tassman issue in SONAR XL

Hello:
i recently upgraded to a Matrox millenium G450 video card for dual monitor support in SONAR XL. well, first off, dual monitors ROCK!
Okay, now the problem: Tassman won't open, and freezes my computer. In the ReadMe file with SONAR 1.3, this is a known issue, and they suggest disabling hardware acceleration. I did that, but to no avail.
I have posted a message on the Matrox bulletin board, but I'm curious if there are any users on the NG that may have a suggestion.
I have to cover all the bases, you know!

Thanks in advance,
Tony

I had a number of problems with earlier versions of sonar and also with tassman..... eventually, they sort out.... at one point, cakewalk recommended I not use a Matrox Millenium Card.... instead, something with a g? chip (I am not sure that is what it was called, but friends in the computer biz knew what it was). I can't find the e-mail cakewalk support sent me regarding my problem, but that helped a lot..... I know matrox is a well regarded name.... just wasn't workin out right!!

As someone who is looking forward to having dual monitors, pleade tell me more!

Describe in greater detail how you use them,
what it's like with two monitors,
how well does it work,
what you don't like about them,
is it worth it,
how well does the screen split between two monitors,
what would you like to see fixed,
basically anything to keep me going until I can get my setup!
Make it as detailed as possible, I need my fix!

Thanks alot,
A1MixMan

Thanks, I haven't heard back from CW yet. The funny thing is, Tassman worked initially, and then decided not to. and it was before I installed SONAR 1.3 from 1.02, so I know it wasn't that.
I'm sure there's an answer out there. If worst comes to worst, I just won't use tassman. It's kind of a CPU hog anyway. I'll never give up the dual monitors.
if you should come across that e-mail, I'd love to see it. youcan send it to:
STAHLA7@aol.com
Thanks man,

Tony

Having dual monitors is awesome. With a program like SONAR XL,or any other that supports "floating views" you can have the console view on one monitor, while you are doing work in the track view on the other. Or, you can have the loop explorer on one screen, and ,say, the piano roll view on the other screen. Or, you could have a soft synth (just not Tassman, ha-ha) on one screen, and Fx on another. The possibilities are up to you. It's very simple to do. You just click the upper left- hand corner of a view, and the drop-down menu gives you the option to "enable floating". you click that, and drag the view to the other monitor. The cursor follows your mouse movements right to the other screen and back.
The other cool thing is, you can move your Word program to one monitor, while another program is open on the second one.I have it set up so that certain programs open automatically to one monitor or the other. You can also have a different set of desktop icons on each, so that your screens aren't cluttered. And you can use the same wallpaper for both.
The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get my screen saver on both monitors
If you're sick like me, you can have AOL on one, and Internet Explorer on the other, so you can visit two websites at a time.
Drooling yet?

Tony

Cool

I hate AOL also. However, gateway.net decided to phase out their e-mail service, so they gave me a free, unlimited 6 mos. trial
How could I pass that up?
I'll dump it as soon as it expires.......

Talking FIXED!!!

Listen All;
Thanks for your help. I did some digging, and I found out that I had the Matrox monitor at 32-bit color, and the Gateway EV-700 at 24. i fiddled with various settings, and found out that Tassman is happiest (and opens!) when both monitors are at 800X600 and 16-bit high color.SONAR XL looks fine at these settings, also.

Thanks for your help!

Tony
