Sonar 1.3 impressions

Well, I've got it, and I've played around for a bit. Some good improvements, and at this point if you've been waiting, well... its time. It seems much more stable, and the only problem I've had so far was a lockup when using the newly added scissor tool. It gave me this:
SONAR caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9db61.

Whatever that means. I browsed the newsgroup, too. Just about everyone seems very happy and pretty content with this one and most peoples bitches have been settled. Looking good so far and there are some more original improvements too, like the dual gain mode. Never seen that before on any other programs. Spend some money, it seems like a safe upgrade at this point. Can't wait til the year 2009 when I'll be able to record again. Damnit.

Yup- I've been away and have just downloaded the demo of Sonar.

I reckon it's great. My first impression was it was just a Cakewalk 10 but on further playing around I find more and more that I really like. This has got to be the best of the windows recorders.!! without doubt!! It is the most stable to start with and the new features such as the full screen edit (instead of the typically boring audio editor), the volume, pan, aux lines on the main page within the wave drawing, excellent!!, The input/output source select in track view, the added metering so you can see what track is happening, the Mix, FX, etc selection at the bottom of the track view, etc etc etc.

But the main thing I have to say is Thankyou Sonar for a free fully operational trial version that lasts 30 days and will save!!! It gives me plenty of time to analyze it and play around with it so I can actually make a full appraisal.

My 2 cents worth

cheers
John

Just make sure you download 1.3.... the files in 1.2 and earlier have to be converted for 1.3... new and much better, smaller file management.

Really liked the changes to 1.3 I think the toolbars are improved and think it is great the way it resizes etc the screen. As usual, could see some improvements like m opens the window for showing files etc. a second m could close it...... bitch, bitch, bitch.... still like it....

I've only got the V1.0 trial but I haven't found a store window layout button so you can switch between different window setups and assign them to different keys like Nuendo has. Am I right or is it available somewhere?

cheers
