I'm dying here!!

I've been scouring the face of the planet trying to find someone who can answer this but it seems like everyone is as ignorant as me..Please prove me wrong!!

Ok- I want to trigger my Akai S-20 sampler from an Alesis DM5 through a yamaha pad (bp80 I think?)...I know this is possible, in fact during my search of the internet yesterday I found out that the guy from Linkin Park does this exact thing but with an Akai MPC200.

I think I have set everything right but I just can't ANY communication between these things...Help me!!
