Mapex Drums

I just bought a new set of mapex v series drums. 5 pc, all hardware, sabian b8 hat and crash ride, and a throne for $490. I'm not really a "drummer" But I'm ok...The drums sound great to me but what do I know? Anyone have any experience with these drums? I have 15 days to return them

Exec, the V series uses the same 9 ply construction as my Pro M's. They also use the isolation tom mounts that eliminate anything going thru the drum itself like Pearl sets. The hardware isn't the beefiest, but appears to be double braced and will last if not abused.
The finish is a wrap rather than laquer which is one area that enables the lower price.
In my humble opinion, I don't know that you could've made a better purchase in that price range. Start reading about different heads and tuning.
