Has anybody tried these new Pearl's with the all maple shell?

Cool lookin' set. Still shooting the tom mounts through the tom which is the only problem I've ever had with Pearl. The rack keeps anything from going through the bass, but I'm wondering if the holes are still in it? The mount is still there.

They have optimounts so there's no hole in the tom shell but yeah, unfortunately there's still a bass mounted tom bracket. Everyone is so concerned about suspension mounting but still continue to put a big hole in the bass drum and screw a 2 pound chunk of metal to it....

It may be insignificant, but I'm still brain-washed by a video I saw that outlined some jive about "tonal transfer" and "intermodulation distorsion" when poppin' those mounting arms through a drum's shell. It's not so much a function of a hole in the shell relesing pressure, as it is of one drums vibrations being transfered into the shell of another. Made sense at the time.

I'm not familiar with opti mounts. These just look like they go all the way through?
