lag

i'm not lazy-my computer is. i keep getting lag anywhere from4500 to 10000. i can't figure it out. it is drivers? i have an ensoniq card, dual 120's 112 ram. i have hit 11 tracks with no problem before but now on the fifth i start getting that lag.

Cool

first off, what is dual 120's?....

next thing, what has changed from when you got 11 tracks to now?...any new hardware / software that could be conflicting.......

hard drive filling up?.....is the hard drive too slow or need de-fragmenting?.....

are u using plugins?...what is your CPU meter reading when all this goes on?.....

well the chips are two P1 120's, i can't think of anything changing except for making a hell of a lot of music. so the hard drive is filling up. i defragged and now have about three gigs free. i think the hard drive is a 13 gig 7200 rpm. i am not using any plug ins and i am not sure how to measure the CPU usage. thanks for your help

well will i guess you are on your own. i don't know if this board has ever helped you out except to spend money. you probably figure you should be able to get results with your system when you think about what the Beastie Boys and Dust Brothers were using when they recorded Pauls Boutique. It sure is a great record.

Will-
You're recording on a single HDD system with only 3 gig left free? I 'spect that's the root of the problem right there. That drive's awful full, and yer putting it to a lot of work... You say you've done a lot of recording - that'll fill 'em up in a hurry.

Is it doing this on every song now, or just one particular one?

since my last post i have discovered that i was using ntrack on my d drive and recording to my c drive...and i have since moved ntrack to the c drive and cleared another 3 gigs. now i have ntrack, 6 free gigabytes on C drive and am still not sure if the lag problem is solved...damn computers.
