Change The Lyrics, or Include A Disclaimer?

Had A song I've been working on for months. I was just about ready to start laying down tracks when all hell broke loose in New York.
The song is about a girl I knew years back who used to get pretty violent toward people whom she thought had it in for. She'd actually walk up to them, grab their leg & land them flat on their backs.
Soooo, I came up with "I saw your left wing flying right - below the last one. Have some faith, will your fate - pull a fast one". Thought it was pretty clever. But what the hell will people think now when they hear it?!!
Has what happened affected any of you as far as your writing? Do you find yourself second-guessing past lyrics you've written?
Really curious about this.

Keep 'em, and don't appologize.

I think within the context of the song these two lines will probably soar right through without much thought.

Peace <><

Wink

Thanks, folks. Musically, it's an interesting song. It would be such a shame to either trash the whole thing or start cutting it up. (never been that keen on writing alternate lyrics anyway.)

Interpretation of lyrics...

Lyrical interpretation is so wide open. Ever think you knew what a song was about only to find out that you weren't even close? The best lyrics are ones that people can relate to and put themselves into.

Even better -
Did you see Pete Townshend do "Storytellers" on VH1? He related the original meaning for "Behind Blue Eyes", then told what the song means for him now. He's gone and changed his interpretation of his own song!!!!

Queue

-keep the lyric, don't look back
