I am a nursery school teacher. I bought a CD that has songs and lyrics on separate tracks. (I can adjust the left/right speakers on my stereo and knock out either the music or lyrics. I can also do this on winamp). However I have not been able to record just the music track. Whenever I burn the CD I get both tracks, even if I "hear" only one. Can anyone tell me how to do this, or suggest software, either pay or freeware, that will accomplish this? Many thanks!

I use Sound Forge for my editing. They might have a demo version at their site.
http://www.sonicfoundry.com You can also pick up some software editors at this freeware/shareware site. http://www.hitsquad.com/smm Pan (glossary is here at http://www.cp.duluth.mn.us/~dkrantz/glossary.html ) the song to the instrumental side. Then record. ![]() I know that might be too simplified. So, if you need this process to be explained in further detail, post us back. peace... ![]() spin

Yo Hiker of Days:]
You might try running the music from your CD to a cassette tape. That should give you just the "music" and then you can burn that tape to CD. I know this may only be a temporary fix but I have some tapes and CD's with words/music and the left/right pan to get one or the other and I have panned, like the music, run that into my MD8 and then done the vocal on the MD8 and, Voila, I have the finished product to mix down. This fast fix should help you out until you sort through other solutions. Green Hornet : ![]() |
