Remote Control questions

I've posted these in the cakewalk/cubase forums without an replies, so I'm hoping some of you masters can give me a lead in the right direction.

Long ago, when my studio was littered with Adats, I used the Alesis BRC to run everything. Midi to the PC, adat sync/transport control to the adats, and everything locked up just fine.

Now that the Adats are gone, the BRC sits. I was hoping to utilize this unit to control my Akai recorders, but no-can-do.

I've replaced the BRC with a JL Cooper Cuepoint, which is a nice little unit, which controls my Akai recorders just fine.

However, I can't get it to work correctly with Cakewalk or Cubase. With cakewalk, I have to push "play" on the keyboard (space), then play on the cuepoint, and they start off together. But of course, the PC goes at its own rate, and the Cuepoint doesn't follow it (or vice versa).

Cubase is a little nicer in that when I push play, stop, etc, they do such at the same time without delay, however from a MTC perspective, they are way off. I've tried many combinations of settings, but no luck.

Anyone use a cuepoint successfully with their PC software-based studio? I'd love to be able to arm/disarm tracks as well, but Cubase I bought recently and still bumbling through it, and Cakewak which I've been using for years (I have Pro 9 and Sonar, same results) I have found from their technical support that Cakewalk does not support MMC/MTC remotes other than a select few, and its not an upgradable option.

Bah!

Thanks in advance for any guidance, thoughts, or assistance.

On the construction front, I have just built the on-floor cable trough seperating the power lines and the audio/midi/serial cabling, and lined both channels with aluminum foil, and grounded it properly. Once I finish running all the cables through it over the next few months, I'll be raising the floor to the same height and putting hardwood tongue and groove across everything, leaving a hinged door across the trough, so I can get at the cables if need be.

Thanks for any help thats offered,

Frederic
