I like how people look, but they don't have an answer.
Don't worry people, your career isn't riding on your response. |

Paul M. died in 1969. His double (planted by the CIA to spy on the drug counter-culture) can't write good songs. That's why Paul M. hasn't written anything good since the Beatles and also why his new album will suck dead air.

If a Paul McCartney thread turns into a FT thread, he'll (FT) probably use it as a "review" on his MP3 site.
The other day, needing some yuks, I went there.... Latest song title: "I Believe in Karma" hmmmm guess he better look out... Queue I think the McCartney stuff might be OK, he's gone through some tough times recently what with Linda dying. Shit like that might inspire a good tune or two... Then again, being in Love and getting married might do the same...

Then again, being a billionaire and being single, always inspires and motivates a person to create great works of art.

Run Devil Run: It's rootsy, be-bop-a-lula-ish, and all that, [live-in-studio], and not sappy, melodic, showtune music, at all.
The next McCartney record should be ok, [is one due out soon?]. McCartney's still young at heart, and still loves to jam. [did I say 'record'?] ![]() |

If Linda's death is any indication of the depth of inspiration Paul's next album will contain, then maybe we can look to whatever album he put out after John's death as to what we can expect. Cy

PAUL IS A GOD !!!!!
We are all just trash that wish to have 1% of his talent. By all means though, ridicule away the songs he has put out in the last 10, 20, 30 or so years. And by no means take into consideration his aging or age. I'm sure that many members on this site could have accomplished far more then he if given the chance. |

By all means, what the heck is wrong with Paul's late songs???
I'd say, the listener is most likely the problem in this case.

Paul McCartney's great, etc,...
but isn't Rock & Roll supposed to be a young person's medium?
Paul's great, etc, and he's got a big chunk of musical history in his back pocket. His songs and albums are good, if not great, but he's lost his real edge. IMHO, Rock & Roll should be an edgy, young medium. Don't get me wrong, Paul McCartney still kicks out the jams, which is great for a guy of ~60. I already have most of his albums, and I'll probably buy his next ones. He's lost a lot of his edge, but he's still a vital musician, and great songwriter, despite the criticizm he gets. He still rocks, you know,... for his age. He's still a great performer, a great presence in the music world, and his songwriting skills are top notch. His musical legacy is gigantic, and hard to equal. There's hardly a songwriter out there with the melodic sense of Paul McCartney. He's still a great figure in music, whether he ever issues another new album, or not. /DA |

I don't think these two songs are in structure or content what I expected from Paul and certainly don't measure up to the same level of creativity of many of his past songs IMHO. Maybe I just expect to much from him. After all none of us can write hit after hit.

Yeah if id been doing it for 30 to 40 odd years then even I could write a good song . So why do we give him so much cred when we all know the most talented person in the beatles was GEORGE MARTIN . WERNT THEY JUST A COVERS BAND.
