Can I use my Korg D8 with my computer

I have a Korg D8 I want to use drumtracks off my computer (I was told acid loops is good?) & then transfer them to the Korg D8, record vocals, bass & guitar with the D8 & then burn cd's of my own music I recorded on the D8. I was told that I need a sound card, some new software & cables. My question is , can I use the Korg D8 with my computer to do this or would I be better off just doing everything on the computer? Will it not be as good as if I used a self contained system on my computer? Any limitations if I can do this? Can you recomend products (hardware software) I will need to do this? What else will I need? I have a Plextor cd burner in my computer & no soundcard. Are there any good books/videos out there that I can learn about home recording techniques/ computer recording? I am just learning all this stuff.
