Beta 56 Tom mics

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to use the Beta 56 mic on toms for a recording session. My experience with them was not that good. The mics are supposedly hypercardiod, but they seemed to be getting tons of bleed through. The drumset was positioned so as to minimize bleed through, and so were the mics; still, bleed through was abundant.

The actual sound of the mics was not impressing. For $130ea., it definitely does not seem worth it.

One good thing I can say about these mics, however, is that they sound pretty killer on a guitar cab. After the dissapointment on toms, I decided to mess around with them on the guitar cab, and they sounded pretty killer.
