Question sample-length tempo BPM stuff

Is it possible to let cooledit select the exact length of a sample if I type the wanted beats per minute?
Or let cooledit make a markerpoint/selection related to what I want to be the BPM...

Kind of hard to make it clear, but I hope someone knows what I mean....and -ofcourse- comes with a solution..

Thanx

Do you mean that you want to make a selection that should be of the exact length so that you can loop it in a certain tempo?

A closer explanation to what you want to do would also help.

Ehhh.....The start of the sample is oke. I know that the tempo for the sample to loop perfectly is 120. But how can I select the sample to be a perfect 120 bpm? Now I have to make this selection by guessing, and checking this with the edit tempo tool.
For instance the selected loop is 120,498 Bpm. Than I have to shorten the selection, and again, and again to get that perfect 120 bpm.
So, is there a possibility to let CPro do that work for me...

Thanks for helpin' out...

A sample will loop perfectly no matter what bpm it is if the length of the sample is perfect. If you are trying to adjust the bpm of what's IN the sample, then you have to timestretch it. If the sample IS in the right tempo, but is too long to loop well, you need to shorten the LENGTH of the sample.

How did you find that the sample is 120.498 bpm?

You can check the BPM with "Edit Tempo".
Then you can find out the exact tempo of a sample.

If I record a beat in Cpro from my synthesizer with the tempo 120, I have to make a selection of that sample that is exactly 120 bpm. And therefore I have to make an exact selection of the recorded sample, and cut off a section at the beginnning and end to make the sample exacte 120bpm. Do u understand this?
(I don't have to stretch/crop.)

And now again my question: Is it possible to let Cpro make that selection?
I cut the beginning op the sample so it will start on the first beat, then want to type in the tempo (i.c. 120 bpm, 4 measures) and CPro makes the exact 120 bpm/4 measures-selection automatically or inserts a marker on exact that spot...

Is it difficult what I try to explain? Is there a way of doing this?

erhm... in the stretch shitiz function you will notice a little space where you can actually type in the length of the sample.
if you want a sample of lets say 4 beats at 120 all you have to do is calculate.
60/120*4 = 2 sec

camn is an unknown quantity at this point
thats the trick right there. I always have my calculator handy.

120bpm=X seconds

120 beats = 1 minute = 60 seconds

120/60 beats = 60/60 seconds

2 beats = 1 second

1 beat = 0.5 seconds.

set your beat length to 0.5 sec for 120 bpm.

OR..

98 beats = 1 minute = 60 seconds

98/98 beats = 60/98 seconds = .6122449 seconds = 1 beat

xoxo
