Question Drums For The Non Drummer

I'm a guitar playing home studio operator. I tap my drum sounds out on a qs6 keyboard. Its really the weakest link in my sound. I am looking for a better way. I don't have access to a drummer. I have no midi experence, but i am willing to learn. Can anyone suggest a starting place. Is a sequencer the way to go? help!!!

I'm not a drummer as such, but what I would advise is that you go through this drummers forum. You have the option of searching by keyword (I personally search titles) or just scroll through the previous threads looking for relevent titles. I for one have searched this forum in depth and I know there is a lot of information that you could find usefull for this query.

That's the best I can offer at this moment in time.

I'd try fruity loops. I'm a very midi challenged guitarist with a home studio as well and I have tried the tapping of keyboards. It takes some time to program the loops and changes out but it's very easy, I get really good results, and it shows up on time to every session!

Hopefully your computer is atleast of average speed (if you use your computer for recording already then you've got more than enough.

Thumbs up fruity loops...

gotta agree with executivos here...try out fruity loops (www.fruityloops.com)

fruity loops is one of the more intuitive sequencing programs that I've seen...as long as you can get your hands on some good drum samples you're set

also - if you decide to go the fruity loops route (try the demo, at least...) make sure to search the forum(s) for tips and whatnot...I know that there was a thread not too long ago giving advice on how to program triplets...

hmmmm..It will work but it might be hard if you try to seperate the drums unless you can sync your adats with fruity loops. It's probably pretty easy, but I'm not sure how. Let us know how the progress is!
