Unhappy HELP! Need help, Vegas Pro and Omni…

I am trying to use the Omni/delta as my playback and recording card with Vegas pro. I have absolutely no success accomplishing this.

I am new to this sound card business so I probably don’t know what I’m talking about. I am also trying to assign the delta to sound forge, while I have success making the sound forge playing back through the Omni, when I try and record, no go.

As far as Vegas is concerned, here is the problem – IF YOU HAVE SELECTED ALWAYS USE SOUND MAPPER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIGN THE BUSSES TO DIFFERENT HARDWARE. YOU CAN ONLY ASSIGN BUSSES TO DIFFERENT HARDWARE IF YOU SELECT CUSTOM ROUTING – there it is, in the help menu.

I do I do that, select custom routing, I have no clue. Do I have to reinstall Vegas and customize it?

Also, let’s suppose I figure out this problem, I am not convinced I will have success recording vocals into the Vegas, as I can’t do so with sound forge.

Any clue on what to do?

Is this a “driver” issue? (Shrug)

I can’t record into cool edit (demo) either, nor a cubase Wavelab demo.

I do record into the Emagic DELTA logic (The software that came with Omni studio). I had no problem figuring that out. However, If I take an audio file that I recorded through the Delta in Logic and try and open it in soundforge, wavelab or cool edit, the software either rejects it (something about too many bits in the sample) or when it opens the sound is just noise.

Like I said I am new to this and don’t really know much, any advice I receive that can be helpful I will truly appreciate it.

Alright, thanks and peace out!!!

Check out Scott Garrigus' site: www.digifreq.com/digifreq/

He has a great newsletter with lots of info. Plus, he's written books on Sonic Foundry, Cakewalk, Sonar, etc. I'm pretty confident your answers lie within!
