Question e-drumset setup

hi guys and gals,

I've never had an e-drumset but as I have a pretty small apartment I've started to figure out how to be able to practice at home both quietly and with a small budget.

Ok, Here's my thought:

Has anyone tried to put those mesh heads to an old beat up drumset and set the drums up with triggers such as ddrum red shot triggers or similar. Of course you would need to purchase a decent "brain" and cymbalpads to complete the setup.

Any comments on this? Any good cheap triggers that work with mesh heads? ...

Any suggestions welcome.

Never tried the mesh heads on a regular kit - but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Naturally, it would take some effort to get it to track right.

We did put Hart triggers on a Remo practice pad kit (the red pads with the black heads) and fed the signal to an Alesis D4 - it worked pretty good.
