save function in demo version

Greetings. I am currently testing out the Vegas Audio demo software. I'm new to this whole thing so I'm just trying to maneuver through the basics. When I save a file/project (.rm, .wav), the saved file contains intermittent static. Is this because I am using a demo version? Or, is there some other cause? Thanks for your help!
