Fender Nashville Power Tele Opinions..?

Hey y'all. I'm looking into the Fender Nashville Power Tele... Looks like a sweet guitar! (mex made)

I wonder if any of you have ever played it? I'm about to (this weekend) but would like to hear from those of you who've heard and played it. Some pointers on what to look out for / be beware of.

The guitar is a Telecaster model, with two tex-mex tele pickups (bridge and neck) and one tex-mex trat pickup. 5-way switch.

The goodie is the fishman bridge that provides you with a piezo pickup. (six, actually I think) to add an acoustic touch to the sound.

Stacked rotary controls for standard pickups: tone and volume.

Seperate volume knob for piezo volume.

The guitar is generally getting rave reviews, but maybe some of you have used it for a while, or know players who have.

I'm seriously considering getting it if I like the sound and feel of it. On paper, it should be one of the most versatile guitars around (sound-wise).

Except that some of you will possibly prefer a switchable humbucker at the bridge.

So let's hear it folks! Details can be found on the Fender website.

A tele with a humbucker at the bridge just isn't a Tele anymore. that pickup mounted in the bridge creates the "Tele sound".

I haven't played the model with a piezo, I'll see if I can find one around.

I agree with H2H. A tele's sound comes from the bridge. Get rid of the neck pickup by all means.

i used to use my friends nashville tele...it wasnt a power tele though...but these guys have a point. i was able to get the same exact sounds as my strat with the nashville. when you think about it - it has almost the same pickup configuration as a strat and w/ 5 way switch.

And it's in!

Just got a call from my local guitar dealer that the Nasville Power Tele is in.

After playing around on a huge amount of different tele's I settled on this one after all. Unfortunately it's apparently a hard-to-get item round here (Holland, that is) so I had to wait

and wait

and wait

but now the call came that the guitar is waiting for me at the store!

I fell in love with it's versatility, and the amazing sound of the fishman power bridge and the Tex-mex pick ups sound nice and ballsy (?!)
