Greetings,
I've been filing bass chair at my church for the past couple of years and may be joining a private party type group soon. Just wondering what kinds of rigs people out there are using these days to do this kind of work. I've played the local club scene here for about ten years and got burnt out on it. At that time my rigs were just too small to compete with the hard-hitting drummers I played with. I would still like to have the most portable rig possible yet have a great tone, which in my case(isn't this the most important part?) is something that has great personality but lets the personality of the bass shine thru. By the way, I'm currently playing a Carvin Bunny 5-string with a complete Bartolini harness. Thanks, T. Alan |

My bass player is now using this:
http://www.gallien-krueger.com/PRODU...700rb_210.html It easily fits in his car (A Ford Probe) and will definately drown out any drummer. It's one of the best sounding bass amps I have ever heard. H2H |

T. Allen Smith,
If you have the $$$ I have heard raves about the SWR redhead combo. It comes with 2-10's and a horn. The grill cover doubles as an amp stand to angle the cab up at ear level and has the balanced DI out for PA/Recording. Marcus Miller swears by them and records with one. I belive they go at GC etc for around $1200. I use an SWR working mans 350 in a road rack and have two cabs. A home built 2-10" with horn Carvin components and a 1-15" Peavey cab. I use both for larger gigs and just the 2-10 for smaller ones. Sometimes having the seperate head and cabs give you more variety for your space and volume limitations/needs. Scott |

Thanks Scooter! I've actually got the $$$ for the Redhead, but I just don't know if I wanna put that much $$$ into a rig when I coul use that extra $$$ in my studio. To that point the GK 700 combo is looking more enticing...but the Redhead is SO cool! Decisions, decisions...
