Question Wall v. Corner Mix Position

All things else being equal in my crappy tracking/mixing room (13'x13'x8'), is there anything better/worse about mixing with monitors parallel (and midpoint between other two walls) to the wall OR with mix position facing the corner? Some books say no difference, some say it's worse, some say it's better since it lessens direct reflections at the mix position. In either case the speakers won't be "in" the corner so bass shouldn't be affected. All further questions I have hinge on this one question. Any thoughts?
