Qs8

Can anyone recommend a book on the Alesis QS8 that would go a little further then the manual? Mainly looking for something on layering of sounds and other MIDI functions.

Thanks

I am not exactly sure what you mean by layering sounds, do you mean voices for the synth or multitracking in midi? If you want to multitrack, the QS8 doesnt have an onboard sequencer so you will have to go to an outboard source. Your computer should do fine, midi is not as labor intensive as wave. If you want to multilayer voices its pretty easy and in the manual. You have the 132 user presets? that you can save sounds to and edit as indiviual presets. Then you can mix different presets into the user mix presets to layer the presets as alesis does in the mix mode. Remember each note can consist to up to four voices but can use only one if you choose. If you use more than 1 you will have to find the volume parameters for the voices you are not editing and turn them down or you will not hear the changes you are editing very well. Read the manual again and you should understand it, if not get back here and I will set mine up and go through it and well work it out.
