DJX & an MPC 2000

I recently gained access to a Yamaha DJX Keyboard I already have an mpc 2k but i want to link them so i can use the looped sounds from the djx with the drums from MPC. How do I connect MIDI IN/OUT? one or both? not really sure tried MIDI out from MPC and in to DJX. It didn't work. i only know how to connect sound modules.
