cheapo wannabee sm58
C3000B
sm57
and some philips toy-mic

Coming up: matched pair, probably octava mc012's and something for kick. Don't know which one. Maybe 421. (Used it once and got very good result, and you can use it on more than kick and bass...)

Maybe I should get...

...a locker.

On my mic shelf:

- SM57
- SM58 Beta
- MXL 1006

The last one I call "General Mike", not for it's applicability in all situations but because in the catalog and on the website and even in the brochure, it has a pretty, champagney kinda color, but when you get it home and out of the box it looks like something from army surplus. Has that Desert Storm look to it. Or maybe something Rommel might have used for his vocal tracks, if he couldn't afford something better. It's my first large diaphragm consdenser (budget restraints, of course) and I'll be interested to see how it works.

Peace

Talking

I find I'm enjoying the sparse setups as much as those with the full selection...

no big suprise that the SM57's are present in almost all

Maybe that's the universal starting point....

So, you wanna do some home recording? Ok, first thing you do is buy this SM57, and build everything else around it.

Wink What a lot I got!? . . (humble)

Well . .

2 x AKG C1000 S's
2 x AKG C2000 B's
3 x AKG D12 E's (quite old dynamics, but still good!)

I 'would' like a pair of AKG C414's . . Mmmm

For the kinda recording I do, ie, jazz, choral and some classical
(not orchestral) i get good results . . Using the C 2000 B's for
piano and the others for other things! . .

The old D12 E's are good for brass, trombone in particular, also
have a pretty good bass performance!

I always though bass was a kind of fish?!

U kinda get the impression I like AKG mikes then? . .
Perhaps I need to experiment or get out more?

Byee..
