Can't Get MIDI to Work With SeaSound

I recently bought a SeaSound SoloEX and a MK-4902 MIDI controller. I was trying to set up the controller last night. No luck.

This should be dead simple: The MK-4902 just has the MIDI out jack, which went to the SeaSound MIDI in. The controller powers up and seems to function, but I cannot get anything to work.

I assume from the very scanty docs that the SeaSound inputs MIDI to the computer without further hardware. For test purposes, I'm using the Cubasis software included with the SeaSound. The docs are not clear on what needs to be done, but I have followed what setup instructions as there are as best I can. I assume this is a configuration problem...though it is possible that there is some bad hardware. There's no telling.

Any help with this will be appreciated.

Followup: Bad controller!

Took it back, got a new one on the spot and it worked fine.

Now I have to figure out how to use it.

Yadi is on a distinguished road
not seeing midiports

Hey Bongo, glad to hear you solved your problem...now this must must make you an expert of some sort...

I just bought the wamirack 24, with cubasis, and have an alesis qs8.1 for the midi controller/playback. The audio records and plays fine but I noticed that neither cubasis nor my computer is recognizing the midi ports from the wamirack. I do have some sort of SB compatible card on the computer for internal sounds, etc. Do you think there is a conflict and should I try reinstalling?

Your opinion/advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Yadid
