Question MIDI connection w/serial port

Hi all! I am thinking about getting a POD. Currently I have a keyboard which is connected to my computer via the serial port. The keyboard has MIDI in and out.
My question: if I want to edit patches/send program changes to the POD from Cubase, would it be possible to do so by sending the message from Cubase to the keyboard through the serial interface on the keyboard, and then connecting the POD to the keyboard's MIDI in and out? Or would I need another MIDI interface that would allow me to connect the both the keyboard and the POD to the computer? I am pretty sure that the first option would work, but I haven't picked the POD up yet and therefore cannot try it; I was curious if anyone has a similiar situation, or had tried something like this (I would think that anyone who two synths connected via MIDI or a serial port must have run across this situation at some point). Thanks!

Nate

Cool

I use a Johnson J-station, and the editor library is a Cakewalk program.I have to have a midi in and a midi out connected before the j-station's patches and configurations can be changed and loaded. I don't know about the POD but I think you will also need a midi in as well as the out or thru.

How? What keyboard is it. I know of no keyboards that have a serial connection. Or are you connecting the keyboard to the PC via MIDI?

If you are using MIDI: It should work.
If not: It won't work.
