Wilcos sound

Does anybody know what synths are used by Wilco
on thier Summerteeth album? I'd also like any synth
info on The Cure, World Party, and Sarah McLaaughlin
if anyone knows anything. I'm thinking of buying my
first synth but I don't know where to start. I just know
what bands sounds I like. Thanks to anyone who can
help.

The only thing I can say is that the cure used Yamaha DX7s pretty extensively during the 80s... then again so did a lot of people. Really cool synth though...
