Question TAPCO 2200 Graphic EQ for mic pre for my C1?

Hello all, I'm a newbie here. I look forward to learning a lot here about recording. FWIW I'm goner and Mojo Dude from the planet, so some of you may already know how clueless I am about recording.

I was wondering if I could use an old TAPCO 2200 graphic EQ as a mic pre for my new SP C1 mic into my VS 880 V-Xpanded (which has no phantom power). I used this years ago for live gigging, in the pre-digital days, and I don't know if there would be any issues such as noise (other than dusty pots), bias, etc. with using this into the Roland box.

The Tapco has 2 channels, 2 balanced, 2 unbalanced in/outs, 10 band per channel, and a VU meter per channel. The diagram shows an adjustable gain amp positioned pre-EQ.

It seems to me I answered my own question, but I don't know if there are any issues here, and I'd hate to blow up my Roland box.

Anyone familiar with this EQ?

Thanks,

Mojo Cracker

It will not work. Because you dont have phantom power in your Tapco EQ either...You should look into something inexpensive like the Art MP.Its about a $100.00 or so.
Good luck

Need a Tapco 6 channel mixer and pre-amplifier(6000) to go along with that graphic equalizer? I could give you a pretty good deal.

Cool

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I guess I need to read up on phantom power. I got the mic not knowing what it was, let alone that my 880-V-Xpanded didn't have it. My thinking was that it was just in-line mic amping. There I go thinking again!

JPS, thanks for the offer, but I probably can't afford it. Times are tough right now, hence my desperate attempt to cheese out some phantom power for free. Things are so tight now I squeak just sitting here.

So I looked at the Art Studio today...hmmm... I like the VU meter...$127.00

Darrin, yeah, maybe your right.

Thanks again.
