Unhappy Don't Laugh

Don't laugh at this. Aww, I know you're gonna laugh anyway. But, I own a Yamaha PSR-6300. Okay, you can quit laughing now. Anyway, I really only use it for some of the different weird little sounds it has - like the bells- and I actually like some of the organs for certain songs. It's not the first keyboard I ever owned but it's like the first Cadillac I ever had. Well, I've never had a Cadillac; I drive a Toyota. But, I'm just wondering is it the polyphony or lack of polyphony that makes it sound so sucky? I don't really understand the full concept of polyphony. I mean if you chord with your left hand using only three keys you just can't do anything with your right hand that sounds decent. You know what I mean. Anyway, I bought it second hand and it was years ago and I don't even have a manual. It is not my primary keyboard, but I just have a sentimental thing about it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can doctor it up? And please don't be mean. Just kidding, but don't tell me to throw it away. k? (smile)

Polyphony is basically about how many sounds the keyboard can play simultaneously, it really has nothing to do with the sound quality of the samples themselves.

if your keyboard has 3 note polyphony, then you won't be able to play notes with your left hand if your right hand has already engaged the polyphony limits by playing a 3 finger chord.

BTW, i had this yamaha x1500 keyboard that i used as a keyboard controller for the past 10 years; however, it had this one ice-rocket synth sound that was perfect. before i gave it to my little brother, i sampled all the cool little sounds from it. if you've got a sampler you should do the same thing.

No Crosstudio, no Sampler. But I wish I had the bucks for the YAMAHA SU700 Sampler. The price of that is more than I payed for my keyboard. Why does everything have to cost so freaking much anyway. I've got this great big list of i want this and I want that and I really want this or that and I GOTTA just have that and that and that. You know what I mean?
